A Note From The President, Jason Oxenrider

October 2009

Well, it is almost here!  Yes, another convention is fast approaching and I can’t begin to tell
you how excited I am getting.  I truly believe that this year’s convention will be the greatest
yet!  You need to be sure and make your plans to join us at MSQC 2009, at the Forrest
County Multi Purpose Center in Hattiesburg, MS.

The convention is slated to be back in the southern part of Mississippi on Thursday, June 4-6,
2009.  On the opening evening, we will start the convention with a Dove Brothers Quartet.
Then we will begin the homecoming style sing-a-long.  There will be nearly sixty artists on the
stage singing some of the classics and hymns of the church.  In years past, this has been the
highlight of our conventions.  However, I believe that this year’s homecoming will even be
better than the previous ones.  For you see, this year we will be using a live band during the
homecoming sing-a-long.  I think we have selected some songs that most people will be familiar
with.  By using the live band, we have put our own little “twist” on the arrangements.  It is
going to be great.

On Friday, June 5, 2009, we will begin the evening with the Fifth annual MSQCA Awards
Show.  Supporters of the convention have voted for their favorites in various categories and
this is the night we honor the winners.  Following the awards ceremony, we will begin the
evening concert, featuring many talented vocalists.  Friday’s event will be loaded with talented
groups and musicians.  You don’t want to miss this evening at all!

The closing day of convention, June 6, 2009, is loaded with a great deal of exciting events as
well.  It all begins around 1:45pm, with the Pianer' Band Jam on center stage followed by the
“Battle of The Quartets”, hosted by yours truly.  All of these showcases will be fun and
exciting.  Then, beginning at 2:30pm, and lasting to around 10:00pm, there will be non-stop
singing by numerous groups at the convention.  Saturday’s concert events will feature groups
like: Legacy of Faith, Freedomland Quartet, Steadman Brothers Quartet, The Walley Family,
and Many More.
